Tubes

Yesterday, Brody had an appointment at the ENT. We met the doctor, which we really liked, Brody had a hearing test, and we had to watch a video. While talking to the doctor, he said it..."I would like to do surgery tomorrow". It completely caught me off guard! I said "did you say tomorrow?". Wow, I was thinking I would have at least a week to prepare my nerves, but now, I only had a HOURS!
At first they told us to be at the hospital at 6:00am, but we had to call to verify the time. Since they go by ages, I just knew we would be first. WRONG! We had to be there at 8:30am! That meant, I had to hold Brody off from food or drink for 8 1/2 hours! I "may" have gave him food and drink after that time, but I'm not telling!

When we got to the hospital, of course we had to wait awhile. They brought us back, and we had to put the smallest yellow hospital gown on Brody. He didn't like it very much. He also got a name tag around his ankle, and they checked his temp and blood pressure (with the smallest bp cuff ever).

He was in the best mood considering he was probably hungry, and around all those strangers. He reached out for them to pick him up, and off they went. We waited for his surgery to be over, and it probably took 6 mins. We then had to go to the recovery room, and it wasn't long before we heard him screaming down the hall. The doctor told us that he would probably be crying and irritable after the anesthesia. He was right!

Everything went good, and we are home now. Brody has taken a nap already, and is working on his second one right now. I pray that the tubes work, and gives my baby some relief!

Perfect Weather

It's hard to believe that last week at this time, we had snow covering the ground! It was so pretty outside, and I even wore flip flops! Brody had so much built up energy, and he NEEDED to go outside and let it all out!

We pushed him around in his car, which he loves! It's one of those power wheels cars that has a button the child can control, and a handle we can push, but also has a button and runs off a battery. Brody loves riding around, and going to go see the "Daas" (Daas=Dogs).

He walked all over the yard, in the neighbors yard, and for some reason, likes to run to the street. I think he tries to give me a heart attack sometimes! We live in a neighborhood that does not have much traffic, but we still are teaching him not to go towards the road.

He was checking out his shadow. He thought is was so cool! Ha, he cracks me up!

Brody loves dogs. He sat down beside the fence and would pretend to "feed" Bailey his stick. That's another thing he likes to do when he's outside is find a stick!

And no trip is complete without a tumble and a few grass stains on the jeans!

I love this weather, and I am ready for it to stay like this for awhile! I believe I could wear flip flops all year long, and I have been known to do so, but in weather like this, you have too! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekend!

Bath Time

These pictures were taking about a week ago, but I got so cracked up when I actually looked at them. Brody loves getting a bath. He loves playing with all his toys, splashing, and now he likes to throw all his toys out of the tub. One night, I guess he had had a hard day at daycare, and just wanted to relax! You know, it is really tough being 14 months old...

This one is really funny. It's like he got caught or something!

His other favorite thing to do, is to chew on his foam letters, especially the "T"!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Another Ear Infection

Well this week has been very tough, and yes, it is only Thursday! Since last Saturday, we have been to the doctor for Brody 3 times, and are going back today! Brody has been running a high fever since Tuesday evening, reaching 104.9, which scared me to death! I took him to the doctor on Tuesday night, and the doctor said "It's just viral", "his ears and throat look fine", "it's probably just a cold". Whatev! Yesterday, Wednesday, Brody stayed with my mom. She called me at work after lunch and told me his temperature was 104.9! I could not believe it. That sounds like a little more than a cold to me doctor! I called the doctor's office and they wanted him to come in. They checked his ears, and what do you know.........another ear infection! Probably the same one he has had for over a month! The doctor we saw was great, he is my favorite! He also included that the way his ear looked, it should have been obvious Tuesday night when they "checked" them. Anyway, they gave him a Rocephin shot, and he goes back again today for the other one. They also referred him to an ENT for tubes. We go next Wednesday to meet with the doctor. I am a little nervous, and I am sure I will be a mess the day he gets tubes, but I do think they are what is best for him. He deserves some relief! Chris and I both carry Brody on both of our insurance's, so this will be a blessing I am sure!

Snow Days

Since I am so behind on blogging, these snow pictures were from the first snow we had this year. It snowed here again last night, and we got around 5-6 inches. We didn't go out a play this time because Brody is still not over this ear infection mess he has had going on for over a month now! We spent our day at the doctor's office. Dr. P said that he wanted to try one more thing, and if this didn't work, he was going to get an ENT referral, and then TUBES! His idea was to prescribe a low dose antibiotic, and give it to him every night. He gave us 4 refills, so I guess we will be taking this forever! He said that if Brody got another ear infection while on this antibiotic before his 15 month check up in March, then tube it is! So we will see.

They tried to build a miniature snowman last time it snowed, but there was so much ice mixed it, it would not stick. Of course this time it snowed, it was perfect for a snowman. This snow we have today is so pretty! I love powdery, fluffy snow!

I love this picture!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend, and the snow!

Funny

I'm sure those of you who watch American Idol remember the man that sang the song "Pants on the ground". Well, since we have to DVR most of our shows, we can watch it as many times and we want, and for entertainment purposes, we play it alot for Brody. I couldn't catch him breaking it down like the man singing, but here is a quick video. It does not do him justice, the boy can break it down, just not when I am prepared to record! Please enjoy Brody's wipe out at the end!

Sorry about the shaky video!

1st Hair Cut

I'm a little behind on blogging, so I hope to be putting up a few new posts this weekend. Brody finally had his first little hair cut. His hair want necessarily too long, he just had this baby mullet thing going on, and a few other areas that were a little out of control.

Here's the before: ( It's a little hard to see the "mullet" since his hair is kind of blending in with his shirt)

Chris held him during his hair cut. Brody didn't really know what to think, and he kept turning his head to see what Mrs. Kristy was doing. I had the camcorder going the whole time, and then I was snapping pictures in between feeding Brody fruit loops, and trying to keep him entertained. I think he did pretty good considering what was going on.

Brody was wanting this hair cut to be over WAY faster than it was! Ha! This picture cracks me up!

Mrs. Kristy did a GREAT job! She was so patient, and made my little boy look like a little man!

Bye Bye baby mullet! Here is the little man...
